Evergreen SCX #1
Evergreen CX pretty much marks the one year anniversary of Motofish Racing. Last year at this time we had just received our first run of kits and for some of us Evergreen was our first cyclcross race and for others it was their first ever bike race. In this photo you can see the fresh faces coming off a great race smiling in the sun (What you can’t see thankfully are the canyons resulting from some very see through kit).
What a difference a year makes. Not only are our kits less transparent and the weather worse but we have also gained a lot of new riders and friends. We also have a lot more collective race experience. This year at Evergreen we showed up early, set up our tent (also new-ish) and trainers and fielded a squad of six men and two women. The results are a bit better as well; last year the top MoFi was in at 32nd place and this year we had 4 men finishing in the top 10 and one woman in the top 10 as well. Its pretty exciting to look ahead to the upcoming race schedule and know what to expect at each venue in the hopes that the results and fun will continue.
One of the things that the above photo from Evergreen last year doesn’t show is the amount of friends and family that were there to cheer us on and happily that has not changed this year. It seemed as if around every corner there was someone cheering for us and at the end of the race they were there to clean the mud off of our faces.
